NICHOLAS TURNER founder Soul Power Yoga

His family doctor introduced Nicholas to yoga in 1998. After burning the candle at both ends and not taking care of his body, he had his first ACL reconstruction at a relatively young age. Working long hours in the construction industry as a Quantity Surveyor and studying simultaneously at a university, he was recommended to start practicing yoga.

At first he thought ‘yoga is not for me’, but later he had to admit how wrong he had been. Yoga has helped Nicholas in recovering from sport injuries by strengthening his body as well as gaining more knowledge of his limits. With yoga he has learned how not to let his competitive nature take over but rather focus on staying true to his own goals. He views yoga as a perfect tool to control one's mind chatter and to increase the sense of being present, something we all seem to lose from time to time.

Nicholas is originally from the UK, and has been in Australia for the past 6 years.

BELINDA GLEW, Yoga Instructor

"My own yoga journey began after the birth of my second child.  As a busy Mum of two young boys, I was feeling overtired and in desperate need of some me time. A friend suggested I try yoga, and I haven't looked back since! Yoga has become a great anchor in my life and I am very passionate about sharing this amazing practice with others." - Belinda

DR SHIRLEY CAMPBELL, Yoga Instructor

Dr Shirley Campbell began her journey into Yoga in 1998 when she trained to be a BodyBalance instructor with LesMills. A program that is predominantly Yoga based, BodyBalance led her to train in 2007 with Duncan Peak, who brought Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga to Australia. The experience was life changing and she has gone on to complete Level 2 PowerYoga training with Duncan and Level 1 training in 2009 with Baron Baptiste. She is currently a senior National Trainer and Presenter in BodyBalance and on the Mentoring Program with Duncan Peak at PowerLiving. Shirley considers everyday to be an experience in being present and a challenge to maintain it.

CAROLYN DEW, Yoga Instructor

"I was introduced to yoga 18 months ago and from my first class I knew I had discovered something very special. Within weeks of my first class I signed up to a teacher training bootcamp with Baron Baptiste and found that yoga was much more to me than a hobby, it has become my passion and inspiration and I find so much joy in sharing this wonderful practice with my fellow students. Namaste" - Carolyn

ARIANE McCORMACK, Yoga Instructor

"I attended my first yoga class in 1992 while attending university.  Little did I know that it was going to change my life for ever. I was hooked after my first class. I could not believe how energized, yet calm it made me feel. I attended my first teacher training with Integrative Yoga Therapy (IYT) in Jasper Canada, 2003. I enjoyed learning about all sorts of yoga discipline such as Iyengar, Ashtanga, Moksha, and Jivamukti. I attended my first Power Yoga class in May 2008 and realised this was my calling. I attended Baron Baptiste Level 1 in Feb 2009, and have not looked back. My goal is to become one of Baron’s “Bad Ass” certified yoga teachers in 2010. See you on the mat" - Ariane
